Prosthetic Hand

PLA, aluminum, stainless steelProsthetic tool
Printed prototype of the vise on its ball joint

A terminal device for a prosthetic arm, built like a small bench vise. A stepper motor drives the moving jaw along an ACME lead screw, and the jaws take interchangeable inserts: soft jaws, toothed jaws, needle-nose and slip-joint pliers, and a cradle for round stock.

A locking ball joint sets the vise at any angle on the arm socket. The design was worked out through drawings, renders and printed prototypes.
